Information for Parents
The Council for Great City Schools has added to their parent road map brochures that explain the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to parents for each grade level (K - 12). You can find brochures for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics for high schools on the OCPS website under “More about Common Core” for ELA and Mathematics.
In addition, these video resources explain the CCSS. A description of each video is listed below:
- Two 30-second Public Service Announcements (one in English and one in Spanish) that explains the Common Core State Standards to the public
- Two three-minute videos (one in English and one in Spanish) that explains the Common Core State Standards - in a longer form. This is particularly good for presentations to community and parent groups.
Parents are the cornerstone of any child's education. We need parents to be involved in the day to day operations of the schools.
The school has several committees that are focused on making the school a highly productive, wonderful place to be.
If you are changing how your child will be going home from Sally Ride, please complete and send the Change in Transportation Form. This is necessary to ensure the safety and security of your child at dismissal.
