Principal’s Message
A man with a warm smile poses for a portrait.

Welcome to Sally Ride Elementary, home of the Explorers! As your proud principal, I believe in fostering a vibrant and nurturing environment where every child can reach new heights. Our dedicated team is committed to providing an exceptional educational experience that ignites curiosity, encourages exploration, and builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

At Sally Ride, we are incredibly excited about our unique Aviation and Aerospace magnet program. This program allows our young learners to dive into the wonders of flight, engineering, and space. Through hands-on activities, engaging lessons, and exciting partnerships, we're not just teaching about aviation; we're inspiring the next generation of pilots, engineers, astronauts, and innovators right here in Orlando, FL. We believe in sparking a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) early on, preparing our students for a future where anything is possible.

My philosophy centers on creating a school where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We embrace a holistic approach to education, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on developing strong character, critical thinking skills, and a love for discovery. This commitment extends to the arts, which we believe are vital for well-rounded development. Our students have fantastic opportunities to engage in both performing and fine arts, both during the school day and through various after-school activities. From drawing and painting to music and drama, we provide diverse outlets for creative expression. A highlight of our year is our annual dramatic musical performance, made possible through strong partnerships with local organizations. It's truly inspiring to see our students shine on stage! We encourage collaboration, celebrate diversity, and strive to instill a sense of wonder in every student. Together, as a school community, we will continue to build a place where dreams take flight and learning knows no bounds.

Kindly,

Kahlil Ortiz
